Population
The City of Greater Bendigo is one of Victoria’s largest and most progressive regional municipalities with a population of approximately 100,000 people.
Banks
Banking hours are generally 9am–5pm Monday to Friday with some banks opening on Saturday morning between 9am–12 noon. Major credit cards are widely accepted. They may also be used at numerous Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) around the city with the use of a Personal Identification Number (PIN ).
Foreign Exchange
Foreign exchange services are available. Most banks in Bendigo will exchange foreign currencies and cash traveller’s cheques.
Shopping
Bendigo has an active central business district with large shopping complexes, department stores and many boutique shops. Most shops are open 9am–5.30pm weekdays, with some open late on Friday night. Shopping Centres and large department stores open 7 days a week and some supermarkets are open 24 hours.
Restaurants
Bendigo has some of regional Victoria’s most innovative restaurants. Local chefs take delight in discovering and using local produce matched with local wines. Most restaurants and cafés are open 7 days a week until late.

Whether you are coming from across the state or travelling within the city, Bendigo has a transport option to suit everyone.

Car – Bendigo is serviced by all major hire car companies.
