Bob Downing –Chair

Bob and his wife Joy own Downing Estate Vineyard, just north of Heathcote. Bob and Joy established the vineyard in 1995 and began producing wine from the 1999 vintage. They have been operating a commercial cellar door since 2003. Bob has been President of the Heathcote Winegrowers Association and is a Council appointee on the Bendigo Tourism Board.

Anthony Gurry

Anthony Gurry - Deputy Chair

Anthony along with his wife Jenny purchased Langley Hall in 2010 to operate as a premium accommodation and conference facility. Anthony felt that he should contribute to the tourism body that supports so many businesses and jobs within the Bendigo region.

Mitch Barri - Secretary

Mitch has proudly lived in Bendigo his whole life, and loves the way Bendigo is developing. He has a real passion for food & wine and manages the business side of his family’s local restaurant, La Piazza Wine Bar and Restaurant. Mitch brings an enthusiastic and innovative mind to the Board.

Sharon Carlson – Treasurer

Sharon, along with her husband Tim, is the owner of twenty2, a café in the Bendigo CBD. Having created this business in 2006, she has a key understanding of the many benefits and challenges of running an owner operated business in this area. Sharon is committed to the vital role tourism plays in the sustainability and growth of our regional city.

Cr Barry Lyons

Cr Barry Lyons

Cr Barry Lyons is a retired businessman who moved to Kangaroo Flat in 1981 and established strong links to the local community. Cr Lyons was first elected to represent the City of Greater Bendigo as the Kangaroo Flat Ward Councillor in 2008. He was returned as one of three Councillors to represent the newly formed Lockwood Ward in 2012. Cr Lyons was selected as the Mayor for the 2013-14 term.

Evonne has been the Sales and Marketing Manager of the Bendigo Trust since 2008. The Trust plays a pivotal role in maintaining Bendigo’s reputation as an entertaining and historically relevant tourist destination. Evonne’s background is in corporate communications and marketing communications.

Brent Curran

Brent Curran

Brent along with his wife Jody have been operating the Tea House Motor Inn for the past 6 years. Brent has had experience in his family businesses including bakeries, supermarkets, hotels and motels and has valuable background knowledge of the service and hospitality industry. Brent is also a member of the Bendigo Motels Association.

Paul Henderson

Paul is currently employed by the Australian Government’s Enterprise Connect, working with small to medium enterprises across a variety of industry sectors including Tourism. His key focus is to bring businesses together, identifying opportunities for collaboration and networking to improve outcomes for all.

Jim Smith

Jim is currently the General Manager of the Hotel Shamrock and whilst living in Melbourne, joined the Tourism Board to gain a greater knowledge of Bendigo and the organisations that locally are integral to his business. He has held various management positions in hospitality for the past 26 years and holds an Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management.
