Apologies for planting the following earworm, but Neil Diamond sung it best when he sung about red, red wine. It must have been after a visit to Bendigo.
Yes, our reds are worth singing about. Some of the very clever local winemakers have even added to the staple Shiraz with exotic drops like the Spanish Tempranillo. Think aromas of chocolate, raspberry and leafy tobacco, with a palate of earthy red berry and cherry… Cherry Cherry (enough of you Neil Diamond.)
Best get the notepad and pencil out jot down the particulars of cellar doors and the region’s many wine festivals and events. There’s not always wifi where you’re headed; out into the beautiful bush and farmland around Bendigo, stereo pumping. You’ll meet a host of locals with inspiring stories; many of our boutique winemakers swapped stressful day jobs to tend vines. Spend a little time with them and you’ll understand why.
