Located in the geographical centre of Victoria, Bendigo is serviced by high quality road and air links.
Whether you are coming from across the state or travelling within the city, Bendigo has a transport option to suit everyone.

By Road...

Situated at the junction of the Calder, McIvor, Midland and Loddon Valley Highways, Bendigo is well placed. There are also excellent connections to other interstate highways nearby.

For visitors travelling from Melbourne, Bendigo is a comfortable 90 minutes drive along recently completed 4 lane divided Calder Freeway (A79)

If you’re driving from Sydney take the Hume Highway (31), from Mildura the Calder Highway (A79) from Horsham the Wimmera Highway (B240) central NSW via Echuca the Midland Highway (A300). If driving from Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport, follow the Sunbury signage on to the Calder Freeway to Bendigo.

By Rail...

With reduced fares and increased services, it’s easy to get to Bendigo by train – the express service, just over 90 minutes from Melbourne.

The new VLocity trains are sleek and smooth and a perfect way to sit back, relax and enjoy the landscape. From Melbourne there are currently 20 services a day midweek, 15 on Saturdays and 12 on Sundays. You’ll pass through Gisborne, Macedon, Woodend, Kyneton, Malmsbury and Castlemaine, so you might just need to plan a longer trip!  With connecting services from Mildura, Echuca, Swan Hill, Maryborough and Daylesford we really are the centre of Victoria.

The Bendigo Station is just a 5-10 minute walk into the city centre where the fabulous restaurants, unique shopping and heritage streetscapes await. Don’t forget there are buses, taxis and hire cars available when you get here - see below for furnter information.

Of course, just like in Melbourne, your V/Line ticket gets you free local  Bus travel. Buses depart from the Bendigo Station for the CBD and then on to connecting services to surrounding suburbs.

The V/Line Daylink service between Adelaide and Melbourne stops in Bendigo daily.

Tram – For a transport option with a difference, why not hop aboard a Vintage ‘Talking’ Tram Tour and journey through the centre of the city. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days and can be purchased on the tram. Further information / Book online
