Self Guided Walks

Every corner you turn in Bendigo reveals another living treasure, another vivid reminder of the city’s glorious and heady past – whether it is the outrageous opulence of a boomtown hotel, or the simple piety of a wooden church.  The best 19th century cities combine grant scale and fine detail and there are few better than Bendigo.

To discover the true gems and find out some of the marvellous stories about Bendigo’s past, a selection of self-guided walks and trails have been created.  Whether you are interested in architecture, monuments, gold history or the stories of the past – our range of brochures and booklets will guide you to many wonderful discoveries.

The Historic Guide To Bendigo, produced by the Bendigo Historical Society, is a comprehensive booklet with information about Bendigo’s history and heritage, the architecture, agriculture, manufacturing and much more.  It also includes two excellent maps, including an Urban and Rural Map.  It certainly makes for an impressive travellers’ guide to Bendigo – for those who want to scratch the surface and unearth the treasures.
