Meehan Vineyard and cellar door is nestled on the outskirts of historic Heathcote — close to cafes, bakeries and a wealth of goldrush architecture and charm.
Its gentle north-east facing slopes, clean air and famous Cambrian derived soil provide superb growing conditions for Shiraz grapes.
Meehan Vineyard is a boutique winery specialising in dry red table wines and the cellar door showcases a select range including the Estate Shiraz, Heathcote Shiraz, Bannockburn Pinot Noir, Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon, Heathcote Tempranillo and a Chardonnay.
Wine is made on-site following traditional methods of small-batch fermentation and basket pressing, followed by up to 24-months maturation in 100% French Oak barrels.
James Halliday rates the Meehan Vineyard Reserve Estate Shiraz 2013 at 94 points and the winery has 4.5 stars in the 2017 Wine Companion — it’s now “knocking on the door of a five-star rating”.
The accolades continue with the 2015 Tempranillo named as one of Victoria’s top 100 wines in the 2016 VIC100 Wine Awards.
Phil and Judy Meehan provide a warm welcome for all wine lovers and are conveniently located at 4536 McIvor Hwy, Heathcote.
The O’Keefe Rail Trail runs along Meehan Vineyard’s western boundary allowing for easy access by cyclists.
