Mosaic Workshop with Kirsten Asche
6-9pm Thursday Evenings - 18th and 25th January Arnold Street Gallery, 189 Arnold Street, Bendigo

Kirsten Asche considers herself to be a modern artisan. Her path towards her current practice has been through various forms of study and mentoring, interwoven with other pursuits, and honed by years of visual observation and response. Mosaic is her current focus, using glass tiles, recycled crockery and beads as well semi-precious stones in order to create rich patterns and capture narrative. Her teaching experience includes working with a variety of students in community Arts programs, teaching children at Art Encounters in Melbourne as well as running her own “Mosaic of Paradise” workshops for the post five and half years from her St. Kilda studio.

Paint & Sip with Joan Harris
6-9pm Thursday 25th January
Cambrian Hotel, 200 Arnold Street, Bendigo

If you're looking for something different in the New Year, come to our next Paint & Sip. This is a fun event where you will paint a take home masterpiece over a glass of wine and finger food. Led by experience artist, Joan Harris, you will be guided step by step through the painting process.

Collage Portraiture Workshop with Joan Harris
10am-4pm Sunday 18th February

Joan Harris is a practicing artist and arts educator. She completed a Ph.D. at Monash University, Caulfield. Her work centres on transcription, a genre of art devoted to reinventing and recasting works of art that already exists. She draws on the Italian Masters works including Pollaiuolo. One painting of particular interest to Harris is his depiction Faith in a series of The Seven Virtues which is housed in the Uffizi Museum in Florence. Utilising photography and collage, Harris' response to Pollaiuolo's Faith reflects her interest in representation of mythological archetypes and symbolism in an historic context and ways in which this imagery may be represented in contemporary culture.
