10 Reasons To Get Your Christmas Cheer On In Bendigo

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

So as a new mum I’ve come full circle, from Christmas Grinch to Santa’s Little Helper… just like that! There’s nothing more exciting than seeing a little persons face light up around the festive season and all the joy it brings to everyone.  So what better way to celebrate the festive season and cheers than share some of Bendigo’s must do Christmas experiences.

#1 Christmas Carols

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re a sure favourite hit every year.  Warm up the vocal chords and join in the chorus because we have Christmas Carols all over the region.  Fa la la la…

#2 Get Your Photo Taken With Santa

A must! Getting a photo with the big man is a great little keepsake from year to year to share with family and friends, and always guaranteed to be a laugh. Our favourite spot is the Bendigo Marketplace

#3 Ride The Santa Tram

A not so little secret anymore but Santa will be taking up residence and hanging out at the Bendigo Tramways Workshop December 7 – 24 while his sleigh undergoes its annual maintenance before the big night. Lucky for us there’s the opportunity to jump on board the Santa Tram, have a photo taken with him and even tell Santa what you want for Christmas. Be quick though, it sells out early.

#4 Take a Horse Drawn Tour of The City With Santa

Yes, you heard right! Join Santa for a 20 minute carriage ride around the CBD, taking in the sights of Bendigo’s historic buildings and Christmas decorations with the team at Cobb and Co Carriages

#5 Christmas Lights

Tour the city near and far with Bendigo’s best Christmas Lights.  We all know the houses each year that go crazy with lights and yet we love seeing them year in and year out.  Check out the Bendigo Advertiser and Facebook for regular updates on where to find the best houses.  And enjoy!

#6 Christmas Markets

For everyone needing a little assistance with their Christmas shopping, here’s the perfect opportunity.  Better still, your supporting small businesses.

#9 mmm Christmassy Goodness!

Sweet treats are always a winner in our house, with the big kids and the little ones.  Plus they’re the perfect gift for someone who’s got everything.

For beautifully handcrafted chocolate check out an amazing selection of Chrissie chocolates from Indulge Fine Belgian Chocolates.

Or you could paint your own chocolate Santa!  The team at Vault Eatery have taken it to the next level.  We’re talking chocolate, edible paint and glitter, plus a scoop of ice cream to keep your little ones entertained with a full tummy.  And all this whilst you sit back and enjoy a coffee or maybe even a gingerbread martini! Winning!

While we're on the whole Christmas shopping thing, do yourself a favour and get in to Oliver Birch's Pop Up Christmas Shop.  Whether you need some cheering up, a little inspiration, unique handpicked Chrissie decor or just love all things Christmas it's absolutely beautiful.

#10 Christmas Party Time!

I couldn’t go past adding in a Christmas Party now could I? So this one is for everyone, whether it’s a work break up or a family get together, the Christmas Party Race Day at the Bendigo Jockey Club has got everyone covered.  Yes, there’ll be horses and a great day of racing, but there’ll be plenty of free kids activities, Santa on track, live music and food to get you into the Christmas spirit December 16.

Finally, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
