Bendigo's Biggest Weekend of the Year

Easter school holidays are here! And they are choc-a-block with awesome things to see and do in Bendigo.

But we can’t go past one of our favourites for the entire year, the Bendigo TAFE Bendigo Easter Festival.  We’ve studied the program inside and out and even got a couple of insider tips from the organisers on all the best experiences for not only for your little ones, but all the cool things to do as a family.

Check out this family fun guide to the Bendigo TAFE Bendigo Easter Festival…

Vision Australia Easter Egg Hunt

Because who doesn’t love chocolate!  170,000 Easter eggs to be exact!  And what’s better is that all ages can join in on the fun which means no one misses out, not even you.

Be sure to book ahead as tickets sell out quickly.

Rotary Art & Craft Market

We’re talking more than 200 stalls over two days (19 & 21 April).  Wander up and down Bridge Street for an awesome range of arts and crafts, those super cute walking animal balloons (you know the ones), handmade jewellery, kidsware and decor, and tasty treats including local produce and more.

PJ Masks Live @ The Main Stage

Calling all little superheroes! Anyone who has little ones will know PJ Masks and you’ll be the best parents, aunties and uncles, grandma or grandpa ever when you take them along to see this live show!  Join Catboy, Owlette and Gekko as they sing, dance and perform all their special super power moves on stage in Rosalind Park.  Your little ones will love it. Plus it’s free!

Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade

There’s a new dragon in town! Watch Bendigo’s newest dragon, Dai Gum Loong, join the world’s longest Imperial dragon, Sun Loong, as they weave their way through the streets of Bendigo on Easter Sunday at the Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade.  Be sure to arrive early to get the best seats!

O’Brien Electrical Bendigo Torchlight Procession

Saturday night our local community groups, emergency services and Bendigo Chinese Association will be illuminating Bendigo’s streets.  Always a favourite amongst kids are the flashing sirens and lights of the many local fire trucks on parade.  Our favourite for the night is the grand finale…the fireworks display over Rosalind Park!

Bull Street Festival

Get your dancing shoes on and rock out to an awesome line up of free live music at the Bull Street Festival including the Australian Bon Jovi Show and SOS – ABBA Tribute Show.

1000 Doors

It’s not one for the light-hearted, but it’s sure to be a fun yet thrilling experience all the same.  Explore the 1000 Doors installation at Rosalind Park.  Make your way through a seemingly endless series of doors, passageways, rooms and screens – no two experiences will be the same.  Best of luck!

Carnival Rides – Yes Please!

Thrill seekers can jump on board carnival rides that flip, spin and turn you upside down in the Mundy Street Carnival Central.  Or for something a little tamer for the little ones, check out William Vahland Place for jumping castles, inflatable slides, and tea cup rides.  These are also the places where you’ll find sticky carnival treats, yep, tubs of fairy floss, dagwood dogs and hot jam donuts – you know you want too!

Awakening of the Dragon

Ever wondered what 100,000 firecrackers going off looks like? Here’s your chance as the Chinese lion dancers come out and awaken Loong, Sun Loong and Yar Loong with 100,000 firecrackers ahead of the Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade on Saturday afternoon ready to greet Bendigo’s newest dragon Dai Gum Loong on Sunday.

Kids Activities @ Rosalind Park

A favourite amongst kids of all ages is the abundance of fun hands on activities available in Rosalind Park over the weekend.  Our top picks include the lantern making workshop where kids can take their lantern away and bring it along to the Torchlight Procession Saturday evening, Farmer Darryl’s Animal Farm because everyone loves cute and fluffy animals, and the Gecko Sports zone filled with action-packed fun.
