Find out the best of what Bendigo has to offer.

Bendigo's Hottest Experiences

Looking for some cracking experiences during the colder weather? Hello winter reds, wood fired dining and decadent hot chocolates. With many fireplaces to snuggle by in your winter woolies, and legendary country pies, brews and yarn bombs...we’ve got your covered!

Hug a Tram

I bet you’ve never thought of hugging a tram before, but if ever you were to meet one that would warrant a hug, Bendigo’s own Yarn Bomb Tram would be it.  Wrapped entirely in a rainbow of winter woolies, inside and out, it’s guaranteed to warm the hearts of those who take a ride.

Sip a Red

I don’t think there’s anywhere I’d rather be than snuggled into a leather couch, in front of an open fireplace, sipping a glass of red.  Wine Bank on View is where you can make this happen.  Here your only problem is going to be how to select a red from their record number of local and international wines, set in the heritage listed bank building on View Street.  Or perhaps ones of our iconic Bendigo hotel's will charm you with their classic fireplaces - Goldmines Hotel, Rifle Brigade Hotel and The Old Boundary Hotel.

Cooking With Wood

Warm up from the inside out with chargrilled steaks and wood fired pizzas from The Woodhouse. I love the combination of a crackling fire, the rustic smell of gently smoking redgum, and a menu of fine-dining-meets-comfort-food. If I’m talking your language by way of wagyu beef and marble scores, you’ll remember this place long after your visit.

Indulge Your Taste Buds

Waffles drizzled with Belgian chocolate? Yes please! Local chocolatier, Indulge Fine Belgian Chocolates, knows how to charm young and old alike with their decadent and instagrammable creations. You can’t go past without indulging in a hot chocolate. Delish!

Visit the Vines

If you’re after a view of the vines as you sip, whilst warming your hands by another beautiful fireplace, you’re going to love our local wineries. There’s plenty to choose from too!  Check out Killiecrankie WinesMerindoc Cellar DoorSandhurst RidgeShiraz RepublicSilver Spoon Estate, and Sutton Grange Winery

Get Out Your Gumboots

If, like me, you like to explore before kicking off your boots in front of the fireplace then a stay at Home Flat House is where it’s at. Wander around the paddocks and hills, fish in the Campaspe River or have a picnic and watch the farm life.  All the while your little homestead is waiting for you to sink into an armchair with a cuppa in hand and a library of books to escape the winter chill. Or if a city escape is more your style, check out All Saints for a 'grand' style of accommodation in the heart of Bendigo, complete with a fire pit in the courtyard to keep you toasty outdoors or Bishopscourt B&B for your very own fireplace in your bedroom.

Rabbit Ramble Pie

Grab a mate and head to the oldest National Trust listed country pub in Victoria, Tooborac Hotel & Brewery.  Do yourself a favour and tuck into a legendary hearty pie, my pie of choice, the Rabbit Ramble!   It that’s not enough, get yourself a crafty brew, sit fireside and soak up the atmosphere.
