Six Unmissable Events This Winter

Grab your coat and head to Bendigo this winter for an array of unmissable events that promise to warm the soul and stimulate the mind.

#1 Barrel Wine Tasting Weekend

Do you enjoy drinking wine? Would you like to learn more about where this glorious stuff comes from? From July 7-8, Bendigo wineries will be opening their sacred barrel halls for you to taste wine straight from the barrel. Barrel Wine Tasting Weekend is the ultimate sneak preview to the magic that happens inside the barrels and your opportunity to sample future releases before they hit the shelves.

#2 Australian Sheep and Wool Show

From July 20-22, Bendigo will become the epicentre of woollen fashion, fine food and the mighty Australian sheep when the Australian Sheep and Wool Show comes to town. Showcasing Australia’s top sheep breeders, lamb producers, wool growers and the very best of woollen fashion, it all sounds rather cosy, doesn’t it?

The Women of Wool Luncheon is a must do on the event program. Here you will be inspired by guest speakers and a runway fashion show by leading designers who specialise in woollen fashion all while enjoying a delicious, seasonal two course lunch. You best be quick to secure your spot as this sought after event continues to attract sell-out crowds.

#3 Bendigo Writers Festival

Taking place in the heart of Bendigo’s art precinct from August 10-12, the Bendigo Writers Festival  has established itself as a must do on Bendigo’s event calendar.  With more than 150 local, national and international writers up for discussion about every kind of writing under the sun, there is sure to be a topic that’s right up your alley. This year highlights will include Ann Cleeves, Hyeonseo Lee, Matt Haig, Charlotte Wood, Gareth Evans, Alannah Hill, Morris Gleitzman and Kitty Flanagan.

#4 Bendigo on the Hop

Hop between 10 of Bendigo’s finest beer venues and sample up to 44 independently brewed beers all while being entertained by live music. The popular Bendigo on the Hop event is making its return on August 25 but get in quick because tickets are selling at a rapid speed.

#5 Enlighten Festival

Feel connected to the land and people from this beautiful region though an expression of projection art. From August 29-31, the Enlighten Festival promises an intimate, experimental and surprising experience right in the heart of Bendigo.

White Night

#6 White Night Bendigo

Enjoy an immersive and interactive night of installations, lighting, exhibitions, street performances, film, music and dance. Bendigo’s iconic heritage buildings will provide the perfect canvas when White Night lands on September 1, transforming the centre of town into an unmissable festival of sights and sounds.
