And just like that, summer is here.  The sun is shining, everyone is up and about and it’s the perfect time to get out, explore and catch up with family and friends.   Check out our list of events coming to Bendigo…

Summer in the Parks

 Looking to spend some great quality time with family? Perhaps you just want to get outdoors or try something new? Look no further.  Summer in the Parks has got you covered with over 100 free or low cost events to choose from, there’s something for everyone. 

The program kicks off with the Bendigo Christmas Tree Light Up in Rosalind Park, November 30, before spreading the festive cheer with Christmas carols across the region and New Year’s Eve fireworks to welcome in 2019 with a bang.  

January will see us settle in for some outdoor cinema entertainment at various locations and a terrific range of other community activities and events including historical walking tours, Australia Day celebrations and come and try events.

February is all about getting your groove on with live music in parks throughout Greater Bendigo each Friday evening along with a range of other fun and interesting events to enjoy.

2018 ITTF World Junior Table Tennis Championships

Come see the world's best juniors in action as Bendigo Stadium hosts the 2018 ITTF World Junior Championships from December 2-8. More than 100 athletes from across the globe are set to compete for individual and team titles. This is the first time the event has ever been held in the Oceania region, so don't miss out.

An Australian exclusive to the Bendigo Art Gallery, Frida Kahlo, her photos displays photos that captured the interests and obsessions she grappled with throughout her life:  her family, her fascination for Diego Rivera and other loves, her friends and enemies, political struggles and art, the pre-Columbian past and her great love for Mexico and its traditions.

Chinese New Year – Dai Gum San precinct

Dating back thousands of years and one of the oldest and most important traditions in Asian culture, Chinese New Year celebrates the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.   

Join us February 9 celebrate the Lunar New Year in 2019 to herald the Year of the Pig, the twelfth sign of the Chinese zodiac cycle.

 

Lunar New Year - The Great Stupa

Come together with family and friends to celebrate the Lunar New Year - Year of the Earth Pig from February 2-10 at The Great Stupa of Universal compassion.  

Receive a free lucky gift, place wishes of new beginnings on our Bodhi trees, take a tour of The Great Stupa to view the Jade Buddha and view the Buddhist holy relics on display.  

 

Lantern Festival – Bendigo Joss House Temple

Bendigo Joss House Temple will be celebrating the Chinese New Year with a traditional Lantern Festival, February 24.  

Be treated to an evening of performances by the Chinese Association Lion Team and Plum Blossom dancers, take a tour of Joss House Temple, and enjoy tea tastings and the art of Chinese calligraphy.

 Scots Day Out

Don your tartan and let the Braveheart’s celebrate. 

Scots Day Out is the contemporary celebration of all things Scottish.  Be sure to make your way to the picturesque Rosalind Park, March 2 to get a front row seat and be a part of the action. 

Watch the spectacular parade of pipe bands, dancers and clans make their way down historic View Street before soaking up the sights and sounds of Scotland throughout the day.
