Start your journey with us...

We have the pleasure of hosting my two nieces, Miss five and three, this Easter break. The trick will be how am I going to entertain these little people??? My first port of call was the Bendigo Visitor Centre, to pick up an Easter Festival program, I thought…with Australia’s oldest regional festival on offer there is bound to be plenty to keep us busy. Well I was not disappointed! Here’s the plan….

Wednesday

Kicking off with the girls and I, getting our craft on with a Lantern Making Workshop....naawww…this brings back my childhood memories.

Good Friday

With 85,000 eggs to be found in the Vision Australia Easter Egg Hunt they will be hopping like energiser bunnies so while booking the hunt tickets, I’ve also picked up a couple Lost Child Wrist Bands… just in case.

The adults haven't been forgotten with Indulge Fine Belgian Chocolates pop-up shop at the Visitor Centre, we’ll duck in for a tasty treat and the girls will love the GIANT chocolate Easter bunny!

While in store I’ll ask where the Easter Paint Out artists are located, to watch them create “live art”. This is where hubby, (aka Unc) comes into play, on a David Attenborough style discovery….if they can make it past the jungle of fairy floss and fire truck rides that is!!

Easter Saturday

There will be loads of fun and laughs with storytelling, live performances, Chinese lion dancers, farmer Darryl’s animal farm AND that is just a snippet. Unfortunately I will miss the Gala Launch of the Rotary Easter Art Show on Thursday night, but will coordinate a tag team with Unc between the Art Show and the House of Mirrors, which I know he’ll love.

For a treat the girls can stay up late to watch the Torchlight Parade….something I hope they will bring their kids to one day, it such a lovely, generational experience!

Easter Sunday

After what I expect will be a very excited morning of Easter egg discovery, to avoid a chocolate melt down we’ll head back into Rosalind Park for some relaxing outdoor time before the big Gala Parade event. The girls will be mesmerised by the colour and sound explosion that takes over the city…I can't wait to see their faces when Sun Loong takes his final dance.

Last but not least we will pop back into the Visitor Centre to cast our vote on our favourite Easter Paint Out art piece and go into the draw to WIN a local hamper of goodies in the process.

For all this and more see the friendly folk at the Bendigo Visitor Centre open 9-5pm everyday throughout the Easter weekend, in the heart of the 147th, Hazeldene’s Bendigo Easter Festival.
