A truly unique experience awaits you!

The Eucalyptus oil industry is unique, and so the Eucalyptus Distillery Museum! The museum has a range of displays that make up the storyboard of the "Blue Eucy" industry, historic artefacts, video and static displays.

Description

A wander around the old distillery gives life to the old photographs.

The working model provides a wonderful experience demonstrating the full distillation process using in ground vats.

Our retail area and café is open 5 days, Thursday to Monday, where you can refresh with hot and cold drinks and a scone.

Books and Souvenirs are a great reminder of your visit to the Museum and the Inglewood district. Given we're all about "blue eucy oil distilling", of course we have natural eucalyptus oil for sale in a range of convenient sizes and a marvellous range of products, not available in the supermarket. The park and toilets are wheelchair friendly and open till dusk.

Located on the northern side of Inglewood, since opening in 2011, the Eucalyptus Distillery Museum has been telling the story of how eucalyptus oil is distilled from the local Mallee leaves. Eucalyptus Polybractea, known as “Blue Mallee”, is native to our goldfields area and has been harvested for well over 140 years. Watching the live demonstration of distilling in the working model and smelling the beautiful natural oil is memorable, and one of many exhibits to explore.

The old distillery is heritage listed, and the 3-acre site is where the Jones family distilled oil for around 100 years. The old machinery is still accessible, and you can see the changes that occurred from the old days of cutting leaves by hand to the early versions of the modern automated processing.

There is a wide range of natural oil, and oil-based cleaning and health products for sale, some you won’t find in a supermarket, along with local crafts and products. There are also gift hampers. Try the samplers and chat with the staff.

We also serve great coffee and scones in our kiosk area.

An ideal day trip from Bendigo, just 30 mins drive along the Calder Highway will put you in the historic gold mining town of Inglewood. With many post gold-rush era buildings still evident, several collectables and antique shops will be open to browse during your visit. Plenty of parking is available, wheelchair friendly, toilets, a BBQ and playground area for the kids, it is ideal to spend an hour or two. For those with time mid-week, why not get a group together and organise a private tour. The unique museum area can also be hired for events and functions.

Group bookings by arrangement. The centre is open 5 days from Thursday to Monday, 10am – 4pm. The museum is at 20 Grant St. North, Inglewood.
