Hours: Tours available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Bookings essential.

The Bendigo Botanic Gardens offers a range of formal educational opportunities to the community. Tours, programs and activities are available on request and are offered at various pre-school, primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Minimum group size of 5 people required. Please request your preferred date and tour above.

Tour Options

Discover the Bendigo Botanic Gardens
A general tour covering many aspects of this diverse site. Learn about the restoration of the heritage garden, the development of the Garden for the Future and future masterplan projects.

Historical Heritage
Explore the horticultural, architectural and ecological history of the site. Learn about the Arch of Triumph, the Edwardian era Pavilion, the Bendigo Creek and the changing garden styles of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.

Sustainable Environment
This tour focuses on ecological sustainability, waterwise plants, growing your own food and gardening in a changing climate. Learn about the billabong and Habitat Garden, the Bendigo Creek and plant conservation.

Plants and Animals
This tour can be tailored to your interests and can include the Lavender and Canna Collections, our extensive tree collection or the diverse range of birds in the aviary.

By Design
This tour includes discussion of the nuts and bolts of designing and building gardens, playspaces and public open spaces.

Passions and Pathways
Learn about career options in public open space development and the organisational structure of the city’s Parks and Open Space unit.

Tour Length
Tours are 1 hour duration.

Cost
$5 per person
Teachers and carers free.

Tour times can be flexible and special needs groups are catered for. Please contact the Bendigo Visitor Centre for more information on 1800 813 153.

24 hours notice is required to cancel your booking and obtain a refund. If a tour is cancelled by the Botanic Gardens for any reason the tour can be rescheduled or a refund offered.
