'Waste’ is a broad term and Australia’s waste ‘ecosystem’ spans diverse areas: food waste, e-waste, household waste, hazardous waste, industrial waste, as well as ocean plastic, water and air pollution. Students are asked to choose a waste related problem and show how their ideas can help solve it.

The Challenge embraces new thinking and seeks solutions from all design disciplines, multidisciplinary teams, and from anyone who has a good idea! Student submissions can address the problem by leveraging any school subject area or discipline. Submissions should be impactful, implementable, and scalable ideas that make inroads into Australia’s (and the world’s) waste problems.

The NGV is one of the Tech School’s industry partners, and the Bendigo Tech School will support any Bendigo secondary school student wanting to enter in our 2019 Victorian Design Challenge Workshop on 15 January 2019. The goal of this workshop is to get students thinking about a potential entry idea as well as providing them with resources to create and submit their entry.

Entries for the official 2019 Victorian Design Challenge close 30 January, and should any students be successful and go on to the second round, we will also offer a follow-up workshop to aid in that part of the process.

PLEASE NOTE: for students to enter with their school, they will require a teacher to sponsor their entry. Provision can also be made for students to enter as part of a Bendigo Tech School Team.
