Bendigo is a vibrant contemporary regional centre, boasting beautiful streets created from one of the world’s greatest gold rushes. The city's heritage is such an integral part of Bendigo's story that it has been carefully preserved and is available for everyone to enjoy.

The strong support that the city's heritage sites receive from the local community is key to their continued survival in Bendigo. "Heritage Unwrapped" is an open day event that aims to celebrate this support, so that locals and visitors alike can explore the best heritage experiences the city has to offer. Whether it be travelling aboard one of Bendigo Tramway's themed heritage trams, such as the Dja Dja Wurrung Tram, Blues Tram or Anzac Centenary or exploring  Bendigo's Chinese heritage at the Bendigo Joss House Temple, venturing into secret spaces at the Historic Post Office or discovering the wealth of Bendigo’s golden age within the magnificent Town Hall…  there is something for everyone.
